Chief Magistrate Court in Yola has remanded 2 men in prison for having in their possession the sum of N2.3million fake naira notes.
Ibrahim Lawan, the accused person, resident of Gombe state, Dadin Kowa District, and Hamisu Ibrahim, resident of Wukari Street Ganye Local Government Area, Adamawa State were apprehended on the 14th Oct 2021.
Ibrahim (40 years) and Hamisu (50 years) who were arrested by the Team of Detectives of the (CID) Criminal Investigation Department in Mayo Belwa LGA of Adamawa, were arraigned in court over alleged criminal conspiracy and possession of fake naira notes.
Our source gathered that the suspects were in possession of N500 and 1000 notes of Nigerian currency amounting to N2.3 with intention of using the same as a means of legal tender knowing fully well that it was fake naira notes.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akawu Iliya, informed the court in First Information Report that was arrested by the operatives following credible information from a reliable source.
The defendants pleaded guilty when the content was read and explained to the give new of their plea, Inspector Akawu asked the court to fix a date for corroboration and summary trial of the defendants for their remand in prison custody pending triaThe ruling line, Chief Magistrate Mohammed Abdullahi Digil, stated that the court has accepted the case for prosecution and that the police are to call witnesses for corroboration and summary trialadjournurned the matter to 10th November 2021.
